A few words from our Director...

As we slide into a new year our agency is busy planning for the new Early Head Start Program! We plan to begin recruiting families in late February and begin services in mid/April. This is such an exciting new adventure and I look forward to having infants and toddlers in Head Start.

Did you know that there is a dedicated group of parents and past parents who meet monthly and help make important decisions about the effective operations of Head Start? There is! They are part of the Parent Policy Council and are elected from each center at family nights. You could be part of that group. The first step is to attend your next family night in February and ask to be elected. Then you can attend a Policy Council meeting and decide if you want to join. We need to hear the important voices of parents and caregivers from ALL the centers. Please consider joining.

I also want to congratulate the chair person of the Policy Council, Raymond Cline, for his election to the Regional (Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Alaska) Head Start Board. He will be representing our region on Capitol Hill in Washington DC later this month. Way to go, Ray!

¡Al principio del año nuevo nuestra agencia está ocupada con planear el nuevo programa Early Head Start (Head Start para niños de menos de tres años)! Esperamos comenzar inscribir familias a los fines de febrero y empezar los servicios a mediados de abril. Este es una aventura emocionada y nueva para nosotros y espero tener las criaturas y los pequeñitos en Head Start.

¿Se sabe que hay un grupo de padres (que ya tienen niños en el programa o ahorita) dedicados que encuentran de forma mensual y ayudan hacer decisiones importantes sobre las operaciones efectivas de Head Start? ¡Sí hay! Ellos son parte de el Concilio de Póliza de padres y son elegidos de cada centro durante las noches de familias. Usted podría ser parte fundamental de este grupo. El primer paso es asistir a la próxima noche familiar en febrero y pedir ser elegido. Luego se puede asistir a una reunión del Concilio de Póliza y decidir si desea juntarse. Necesitamos escuchar a las voces importantes de los padres y los guárdianes de TODOS los centros. Por favor considere juntarse.
